Elk Bull

During rutting season, bulls roll in water and mud,
and clash their antlers together. This
bull, made a muddy bed in the
water with his hooves before
plopping down into it,
and later rolled around on his back to
rub the mud into his coat.

The original name for the elk was “Wapiti”, or
“pale dear” by the Shawnee, while
the word “Elk” was mis-applied by the settlers,
and is the British word for “Moose”.
